Trump Gets Crushed on Two Fronts

It looks like Trump got crushed by Fox news on two fronts yesterday Jan 29th in regards to the GOP debate. First off Trump's negotiating skills were pummeled when he tried to remove Megyn Kelly from the debate. His long running feud with the Fox News anchor was something he couldn't let go and as a result wimped out of the debate. When the dumb move to remove Kelly failed he tried to get Fox News to contribute $5 million dollars to his charities for veterans organizations. Both those negotiating tactics failed and if he is the greatest negotiator on earth it looks like he isn't what he pertains to be.

As a result of this failure he decided to challenge Fox news  to a television ratings battle by holding a competing event a few miles from the debate with his own little party which would benefit the veterans charities and of course make his own charity look stellar. He did raise around $6 million dollars from some of his wealthy friends and he dipped into his own wealth with a one million dollar donation to his own charity (tax deductible). People were lined up for blocks to enter the event and some were turned back but it was held in a place that wasn't big enough so as to not have any empty seats.
So who won the ratings battle. It looks like Fox News blew Trump out of the water on this point. The Fox preliminary ratings came out at 12.5 million viewers compared to the Trump event drawing a miserly 2.7 million viewers. The 12 million viewers was a far cry from the 24 million that Fox drew for the first debate where Trump was rattled by Megyn Kelly but if you add the Trump viewers to this debate it would most likely have come in at 14 mil. However you look at it, the debate came out the big winner over Trump's event at Drake University. Both CNN and MSNBC carried portions of the Trump event and it was fully covered by OAN (One America News) and their combined rating was 2.7 million viewers.
The Trump Campaign had predicted that the debate on Fox would garner in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 million viewers. It looks like they were off by 10 million viewers. The previous debate on Fox Business network only saw a viewership of 11 million and Trump was a participant in that one.Fox can still claim that this debate was the second highest rated telecast in the network's twenty year history. Even the under card debate beat Trump's event numbers. I would assume that Trump blew it on two fronts on his shrewd calculation and no telling whether this will hurt or help him with Iowan voters on Monday. As it turned out Trump was the big loser but it is a given that he'll put his famous Trump spin on it and will lie about this debacle like he lies about everything else.

The Latest Boycott from the Top Clown Trump

Before I go on with the many gaffes or planned things that keep Trump in the news the latest has been his reasons for skipping the debate tomorrow night Jan 28th 2016. Trump seems to think that nothing will hurt his campaign because he  been saying that his supporters are so loyal that even if he shot someone, they would still support him. We'll see about that after tomorrow's debate if he sticks to his plan of not showing up to the debate.
Here's Trump's reason for not going to the debate. He doesn't feel that his nemesis Megyn Kelly can be a fair moderator. Give me a break. He has been complaining and whining about the questions asked by the news media as unfair to him since day one. The problem is that when he doesn't have an answer for any questions that are asked he immediately has to get defensive and start blaming the media. With Megyn Kelly it was that first question at the first debate that got into his crawl and seems to linger and eat at him from within. It was a question which he never really had an answer for which must mean that it was something that he can never live down so it must be true.
On the Aug 6th debate Kelly  asks Trump if he possesses the temperament to be President given the fact that "you've called women you don't like fat pigs. dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals." Trump has been threatening to skip debates and once suggested that the only reason for the ratings of the debates was because of him. It might be true but many people only tune in because it is entertaining and doesn't feel like a presidential race that is boring and usually the answers are canned, " a chicken in every pot".  Each time  that Trump has threatened a boycott he has always backed off his threats and always shows up. This time may be different because what he wants Kelly to be taken off the stage as one of the moderators and that will likely not happen.

Trump is all about boycotts  and lawsuits to solve any disputes that he has encountered. What is he going to do if he comes up with a tough problem as President. Kelly is right, he does not have the temperament to be President. A smart woman puts him in his place and he can't handle that and so what does he do, he boycotts. Of course it has kept him in the media for the last few days as every news channel on the planet wants to interview him and can't stop talking about what will happen if he doesn't show up. The ratings will take a hit but who cares, no one really cares except Fox News since that is where the debate will be shown. If millions of people don't tune in to the debate, Trump will be beating his drum and telling everyone that it was all because he didn't show up.
Trump looks like he will not back off on his threat of not showing up this time around even though I kept thinking that he would eventually opt out sooner rather than later. He is not a debater and when he boosts that he has won all the debates, it is all hot air. He is really not a debater and doesn't ever chime in with any debate points worth mentioning and his one liners although sometimes funny is not enough to come out on top. Although Fox News and Roger Ailes feel that they cannot back down on Megyn Kelly's participation in the debate they are hoping and praying that Trump changes his mind about attending. It sure looks like Trump won this one with the network and if he doesn't show up, will he win this one with the Iowa voters. Maybe this one mis-calculation in Trump's campaign will finally bring this arrogant, boisterous, narcissistic bombastic candidate down to earth even if it's at the expense of that teabagging nut Ted Cruz.

The Kelly Fued

Let's look at some other media gaffes or Trump plants that get him in the news and keep him there for some time. First off let's go to the first debate. Millions of people were tuned in to that debate because they were curious to see Trump fall flat on his face. In that debate, he didn't do much and lost that debate by an landslide. He was asked some very tough questions and especially about his treatment of women by Megyn Kelly of Fox News. Trump's take on that whole debate was that it was an orchestrated attempt by "the establishment" to embarrass him and get him out of the race. It backfired and in the process Trump hit Kelly with a statement that caused an uproar for maybe a week or more. All negative press for Trump which he did his best to turn around and blame the press. In that press fiasco. Trump tweeted:

He was talking about her attitude toward him with her questions. Apparently he was trying to convince people that she had it in for him or was coached by Fox to go after him hard. Apparently it worked because for a week he was in the news and everyone was clamoring tor him to explain his statement and women were in an uproar because they felt that Trump had implied that it was that time of the month for Kelly and she was not herself or so that is what he was implying. Although women were in an uproar that little fiasco did not hurt Donald Trump. In fact, it looks like his poll numbers went up instead of going down. The one thing I can't believe is that a Presidential candidate no matter how unpolitically correct he is would tweet the entirety of the Dr. Dre classic “Bitches Ain’t Shit” at Kelly for the rest of the afternoon:

I know I am an adult and I've read and heard those words many times in my lifetime but who wants to hear that come out during a run for President of the US. This is just a vulgar tirade by an immature a'hole, if that is permissible to say online. After this feud that went on for a least a month, Fox News was very angry at Trump but being that the news depends on ratings and Trump was in somewhat of a ban from Fox, the news channel backed off and Boss Roger Ailes made a truce with Trump to stop the attacks on Kelly and he would be treated fairly by Fox. This worked out for a while until Kelly went on an eleven day vacation at which point Trump went after her again:

This set off the controversy once again and it lasted at least a week or more. Free publicity although negative but you know what they say any publicity is good publicity. Next time the next controversy.
